Due to confidentiality reasons, I am unable to share the projects that I have worked on for this client. However, here’s what I can share.
The ESPN Edge Innovation Lab is a collaborative hub built by Accenture CEO Julie Sweet as an investment with ESPN to shape the future of sports through enhanced fan experiences. This lab has served as an incubator for ESPN to pioneer experiential fan offerings alongside Accenture.
The Edge Lab is run by a two-woman show in which I am grateful to say that I am 1/2 of this leadership duo. My day-to-day involves wearing a variety of hats (or shall I say sports helmets), which is probably one of my favorite strengths! Here is a taste of what you can find me doing at the lab:
Overseeing multiple POC projects at the same time, which has typically consisted of running daily Scrum calls/Sprints to keep our Managing Directors, Interaction Designers, Software Engineers, and stakeholders aligned.
Concept Shaping, the fun part! This involves identifying business opportunities based on data/research and scoring those ideas against of set of criteria to ensure that is scalable and meets the following (Audience Size, Viability, Innovation, Feasability)
Working closely with ESPN’s Business Development and Innovation team to ensure priorities are being met and the partnership with Accenture is being maximized
Developing storylines & pitches to move ideas into the contracting stage (sealing the deal!) and presenting them to the Business Units which has included ESPN Editorial, Disney Technology, ESPN Analytics, ESPN Events and Marketing, ESPNW
Getting hands-on with our designers to develop a seamless end-to-end experience for fans whether it be mocking up wireframes in Figma, advising engineers on UX copywrite, etc.
